High purity 1-Octene (C8) is used to produce synthetic fatty acids, mainly for synthetic lubricants, plasticizers, surfactants, polyethylene comonomers, elastomers and plastomers, and agricultural chemicals.
High purity 1-Octene vapor can form explosive mixtures with air and can undergo polymerization reactions at high temperatures. Polyethylene produced with 1-octene as a comonomer has excellent performance and high added value. It is mainly used to produce high-quality polyethylene, polyalphaolefins, and polymers of ethylene and butene, and its usage accounts for more than 50% of the total usage of 1-octene. The polyalphaolefin obtained by 1-octene oligomerization is a lubricant base oil with low viscosity, low pour point, and high viscosity index. Hydrogenated fatty amines made from 1-octene are mild to the skin and have good foam stability.
