Products Description

Sulfur hexafluoride SF6 gas has a wide range of applications. The following are some of its main application areas:

Power industry:

Insulating medium: Sulfur hexafluoride SF6 gas has excellent insulation properties, and its insulation strength is about 2.5 times that of air. It is widely used as an insulating material in high-voltage electrical equipment such as ultra-high voltage and extra-high voltage circuit breakers, large-capacity transformers, high-voltage cables, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), and ring network power supply units. It can effectively ensure the safe and stable operation of power equipment, reduce the size of equipment, and improve the reliability and economy of equipment.

Arc extinguishing medium: Sulfur hexafluoride SF6 gas is a highly electronegative gas. Its molecules can easily adsorb free electrons to form negative ions with large mass, weakening the collision ionization process in the gas. Its arc extinguishing ability is about 100 times that of air. In high-voltage circuit breakers, it is used as an arc extinguishing medium to quickly extinguish arcs, prevent accidents from expanding, and protect the safety of the power system.

Electronic semiconductor industry:

Etchant: Electronic grade high-purity sulfur hexafluoride is an ideal electronic etchant. In the field of microelectronics technology, such as computer chips, liquid crystal screens and other large integrated circuit manufacturing, it can be used in plasma etching processes to accurately remove unnecessary parts of the surface of semiconductor materials to create complex circuit patterns.

Cleaning agent: It can be used to clean impurities and residues on the surface of semiconductor processing equipment and chips to ensure the cleanliness of the chip manufacturing process and improve the quality and performance of the chip.

Dopant: When manufacturing low-loss high-quality single-mode optical fibers, sulfur hexafluoride can be used as a dopant for the isolation layer to improve the optical properties of the optical fiber.

Chemical industry:

Gas leak detector: Due to the good chemical stability, low reaction with other substances, and high density of sulfur hexafluoride SF6 gas, it can be used as a gas leak detector to quickly and accurately detect leaks in chemical equipment such as pipelines and instruments, which helps to timely discover and repair leaks and ensure the safety and stability of chemical production.

Fluorinating agent and catalyst: In some organic synthesis reactions, sulfur hexafluoride can be used as a fluorinating agent or catalyst to participate in chemical reactions, promote the reaction, and improve the selectivity and yield of the reaction.

Medical field: Sulfur hexafluoride microbubbles are an ultrasound contrast agent with important applications in ultrasound imaging, such as SonoVue. After intravenous injection, they can enhance the blood echo rate, improve the image quality and diagnostic accuracy of echocardiography, large vessel Doppler, small vessel Doppler and other examinations, help doctors observe the structure and blood flow of heart chambers, blood vessels and other parts more clearly, and assist in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, liver and breast lesions, etc.

Metallurgical industry: In the smelting and casting process of non-ferrous metals such as magnesium alloys and magnesium-aluminum alloys, sulfur hexafluoride gas or a mixture of sulfur hexafluoride and nitrogen is often used as a protective gas to prevent the metal from being oxidized by air at high temperatures and improve the quality and purity of the metal.

Refrigeration industry: Sulfur hexafluoride SF6 gas has good chemical stability, has no destructive effect on the ozone layer, and has certain refrigeration performance. It can be used as a refrigerant to replace Freon and is used in low-temperature refrigeration systems in the refrigeration industry. The operating temperature is generally between -45℃~0℃.
