Chemical properties of Carbon tetrafluoride R14
Colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. Melting point -150℃ (-184℃), boiling point 128℃, density 1.96g/cm3. Slightly soluble in water. Very stable to heat, less active chemically than carbon tetrachloride.
Precautions for Carbon tetrafluoride R14
Stored in a cool, ventilated non-flammable gas warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 30℃. It should be stored separately from flammable (combustible) materials and oxidants, and should not be mixed. Leakage emergency treatment equipment should be available in the storage area.
Use of Carbon tetrafluoride R14
Used as refrigerant, solvent, lubricant, insulating material, and coolant for infrared detector tubes. It is also used to make cryogenic liquid pressure gauges or as an inert gas, or used in plasma etching processes and laser gases for various integrated circuits.
Used in plasma etching processes for various integrated circuits, and also used as laser gas and refrigerant.
