Products Description

Pentane includes n-pentane and isopentane, both of which have the molecular formula C5H12 and a relative molecular mass of 72.15. Both substances are colorless and transparent liquids at room temperature with a faint aromatic odor. They do not contain olefins, mechanical impurities, or free water. The typical physical properties and technical indicators of n-pentane and isopentane are shown in Tables 8-7 and 8-8, respectively.

The high-purity N-Pentane foaming agent provided by ZL has a purity of up to 99.5%, and contains trace amounts of n-butane (less than 0.01%) and isopentane (less than 0.2%), as well as a small amount of C6 components (less than 0.3%). This high-purity N-Pentane foaming agent is obtained from light hydrocarbons in oil fields through efficient distillation separation.

N-Pentane foaming agent has multiple uses. It can be used as a desorbent in the molecular sieve dewaxing process. After being blended with isopentane in different proportions, it can meet the needs of different foaming degrees and become an efficient foaming agent for expandable polystyrene. In addition, it can also be mixed with cyclopentane and the like and used as a polyurethane foaming agent.

Isopentane also has a wide range of applications. It can be used alone as a foaming agent for expandable polystyrene, or mixed with cyclopentane to become a foaming agent for rigid polyurethane foam. At the same time, isopentane can also be used as a deasphalting solvent and a catalyst solvent in polyethylene production.

It should be noted that cyclopentane is flammable and explosive, and its explosion limit is between 1.4-8.0%, so it is listed as a Class A Class B fire protection object. It is also a volatile organic compound with an hourly volatilization volume of up to 8.5KG/square meter and a slight irritating odor. This requires that safety regulations must be strictly observed during production, transportation and storage to ensure the safety of equipment, plant and employees. At the same time, since cyclopentane has a certain low toxicity and deesterification function, it should be rinsed with clean water immediately when it comes into contact with the skin or splashes into the eyes. Once a leak occurs, measures should be taken quickly, such as dilution and dispersal with inert gas nitrogen.
