N-Hexane is a colorless liquid with low toxicity and a faint special odor. N-Hexane is a chemical solvent.
N-Hexane belongs to the class of straight-chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons, which is obtained by cracking and fractionating crude oil. It has a colorless appearance and a gasoline smell. It is a chemical solvent. It evaporates faster than alcohol and is better at wiping glass than alcohol. One of its uses is solvent, extraction, and organic synthesis, such as cleaning in the electronics industry, as an extractant in the pharmaceutical industry, and as an extractant for edible vegetable oils.
Hexane is mainly used as a solvent in industry to prepare viscose to bond shoes, leather and bags. It is often used for wiping and cleaning operations in the production process of the electronic information industry. It is also used in the extraction of crude oil in the food manufacturing industry and the extraction of floral solvents in the production of daily chemicals.
Operation precautions
Closed operation and comprehensive ventilation. Operators must undergo special training and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter-type gas masks (half masks), chemical safety protective glasses, anti-static work clothes, and rubber oil-resistant gloves. Stay away from fire and heat sources. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevent steam from leaking into the air in the workplace. Avoid contact with oxidants. The flow rate should be controlled during filling, and there should be a grounding device to prevent static electricity accumulation. When handling, load and unload gently to prevent damage to the packaging and containers. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may have residual harmful substances.
Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 30℃. Keep the container sealed. Store it separately from oxidants and avoid mixing them. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Do not use mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate containment materials.
