Methane, with the molecular formula CH4, is an organic compound. It is a colorless gas at room temperature and pressure, and its pure product has no odor. Methane is the simplest organic compound and belongs to hydrocarbons. It has the smallest carbon content and the largest hydrogen content. It is widely distributed in nature and exists in liquefied petroleum gas, coal gas, and biogas. High purity methane is a high-purity gas obtained after purification and fine processing, and its purity is generally above 99.999% (5N).
Methane is mainly used in industry and civilian use. It is used as a chemical raw material in the industrial field to produce acetylene, synthetic ammonia, hydrocyanic acid, carbon black, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and other products, and as a fuel in the civilian field.
On the other hand, there are two main application areas of High purity methane.
It is used as a standard gas and calibration gas, used to evaluate instruments and catalysts, for industrial testing (including metallurgy, chemical industry, petroleum, atomic energy, aviation and other industries) and scientific research fields, and can also be equipped with special mixed gas. Second, it is used in the semiconductor, electronics and solar cell industries to prepare amorphous silicon, transistors, sensors and other products.
